  • The Thalians and UCLA Operation Mend

    Kira Reed Lorsch is the new President of The Thaliansa “Hollywood for Mental Health” charity founded by Debbie Reynolds and long led by Ruta Lee.  Kira, along with her husband Bob, chaired their last gala honoring “Mr. Wonderful” Smokey Robinson to great success and is looking forward to chairing The Thalians 60th Anniversary Gala in memory the dearly departed Past president Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher.  Past award recipients include Frank Sinatra, Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Hope, Gene Kelly, Shirley MacLaine, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Clint Eastwood and Hugh M. Hefner, just to name a few.   • Animal Rescue and ShelterHopePetShop.org

    Kira is an animal rescue advocate working closely with the humane, rescue only pet store ShelterHopePetShop.org. Founded by her longtime friend, Kim Sill, Shelter Hope Pet Shop was created to aid shelter pet adoptions and eliminate puppy mill pet shops across the nation. Kira features a Shelter Hope Rescue Dog of the Week in the Beverly Hills Courier with all adoption fees going directly back to help save the lives of homeless pets. Kira is currently the momma of two Shelter Hope rescue dogs and three former street cats.

    Ms. Lorsch is also member of the Board of Trustees of the California Science Center, where the Robert H. Lorsch Family Pavilion serves as the gateway. The California Science Center aspires to stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun, memorable experiences. The Center provides an innovative model for science learning by combining exhibits with an on-site Science Center School as well as a teacher professional development  program. California Science Center is the home of permanent exhibits including Ecosystems and Space Shuttle Endeavour. The Science Center also hosts international touring exhibits and has an educationally focused IMAX Theater with a capacity to create images of exceptional clarity and impact through the use of the largest film frame in the motion picture industry. Kira recently appeared on the Today Show with all Roker representing The California Science Center and featured the museum in a segment of her new daytime informative talk show The 411.
